Wine Cap mushrooms (Stropharia rugosoannulata), also known as garden giants, are hardy, flavorful mushrooms that thrive in outdoor beds of wood chips, straw, or garden mulch. This 10ml liquid culture is a concentrated, living mycelium suspended in sterile nutrient solution, ready to start growing your own mushrooms and can be used to start enough spawn to create several Wine Cap beds. Instructions NOT included as this versatile culture can be used in many ways. Once established in a bed, Wine Caps help break down woody material, enrich soil, support plant health, and can produce generous flushes of meaty, burgundy-capped mushrooms season after season under the right conditions.

For a step-by-step guide to starting a Wine Cap bed, see Erin Hamilton's article in the April/May 2026 issue of Mother Earth News magazine.
