Cucurbita maxima

Days to Maturity: 100-105

Pueblo Hubbard is a Colorado- and Southwest-adapted, low-water needs beauty. It may be grown dryland. The highlight of this squash is its delicious, smooth, stringless flesh! Perfect for baked goods, soups, stuffing and all your favorite recipes. It is also early-adapted for such a large squash, producing ample fruits in 3.5 months. This is a landrace squash with a variety of shapes and colors including pale blue-gray, green and orange.

Original seed from Pueblo Seed & Food.

Planting Instructions: Sow Pueblo Hubbard Squash directly in the ground after all danger of frost has passed & soil has warmed a bit. Plant 2-3" deep in mounds of well-draining soil. Mounds should be at least 5 feet apart. Plant before rains or water in. Or try Hügelkultur for giant fruits! If you are wanting to maintain low-water genetics, water as little as possible (for example, it is a good time for one deep water if squash leaves are wilting and no rain is expected).

Seed Saving Instructions: Select as many of your tastiest, fully mature fruits as possible for seed saving. Cut open squash and lay Pueblo Hubbard seeds out to dry on a screen or cloth. You may rinse them in a strainer if needed. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approximately 15 Pueblo Hubbard Squash seeds per packet
