Search through all of Mother Earth News' content, from 1970-2023, with the updated Classic USB drive!

In 2003, we introduced an archive of all Mother Earth News' issues from 1970 on CD-ROM, presenting a new way of accessing past issues of the magazine in a digital environment. Thousands of readers responded to the notion of sifting through our first decade at the click of a mouse and to the ability to search for what specifically interested them. Following that success, we expanded the archive to cover more of the magazine's past issues on disc.

Now, we are pleased to reintroduce the classic version of the archive with enhanced search functionality across Mother's entire 54-year history. With this version of the archive, you can search for articles about earth-sheltered homes, cheap solar power, organic gardening techniques, raising chickens, beekeeping, do-it-yourself projects, and much more.

Mother Earth News has also published hundreds of healthy, down-to-earth recipes, and the archive includes all the delicious directions we've published in the magazine. From strawberry jam and homemade jerky to hummus and morel mushroom quiche, you'll find something to satisfy every appetite.

In addition to the ability to search the entire archive or browse by each month and year, the Classic interface contains enhanced search features.

Search by:

  • Date range
  • Exact phrases and word combinations
  • Entire archive content
  • Headline only
  • The content of each individual article
  • Popular categories

Bought archive instead of renewing my subscription .Renewal is becoming to expensive , but I still wanted to be able to read the magazine even if it is older .

Could be Better

I was gifted a MEN thumb drive in 2017 and was excited to search the archives. I found the text documents & search options bland and difficult. When I attempted to use this older drive this year it was no longer compatible, making it a mute purchase. I reached out to Mother Earth News to solve the problem and was told I would need to buy a updated thumb drive at a discount. I was hopeful that improvements to technology would help the drive experience. I was sorely mistaken. The unfortunate fact is that this drive still is relegated to use the internet for proper function, minimal images are available, if any at all with articles and the search function is still like hunting in the dark. I will not buy another "archive" in the future.

Content search is quite useful.
