Beta vulgaris

Days to Maturity: 65-75

We are pleased to offer this exceptional variety of beet seed. Also known as Lutz Green Leaf Beets or Winterkeeper Beets.

This is a superb winter keeping variety that does NOT get woody (pithy) as it grows up to 6" in diameter! A great multipurpose beet that can be eaten raw, cooked, pickled or roasted. This variety is well known for its sweet flavor AND for its superior tasting greens! Try the beet greens sauteéd with butter and garlic. Crimson-colored roots have a beautiful ring pattern.

Grown in Paonia, CO.

Planting Instructions: Plant beet seeds 1/2"-1" deep, 6-12" apart in spring. One seed produces multiple plants so thin as desired. Cold tolerant.

Seed Saving Instructions: Beets are a biennial which produces seed the 2nd season. Allow stalks to bolt and go to seed in spring. Collect seeds when fully brown, dry and crumbling. Store Beet seeds in a cool, dark and dry place.

Approx 30 German Lutz Beet Seeds per packet (each seed grows multiple plants)
