Coreopsis tinctoria

Days to Maturity: 85

Dyer’s Coreopsis, also called golden tickseed or calliopsis, is native to North America and produces rich colors of dye ranging from golden yellows to deep orange to olive green and bronze-y brown. The flowers are the main dyestuff, and come in an unpredictable variety of petal shapes, sizes, and gold-maroon-red combinations. Coreopsis works best on protein fibers and yields more muted shades on cellulose fibers. Very fun in the garden!

Grown by Bluebird Dye Gardens in Dolores, CO.

Planting Instructions: Start Dyer's Coreopsis seeds indoors 6 weeks before last frost, and transplant after frost, or plant directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Plant 1/4" deep and sprinkle lightly with soil, allowing light to reach seeds which helps germination. When flowers begin, pick often to maximize flower production.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow some flowers to go to seed. Collect Dyer's Coreopsis seed when fully dry. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approx 60 Dyer's Coreopsis seeds per packet
