Solanum lycopersicum

Days to Maturity: 75-80 from transplant

A classic heirloom plum. Hefty 8-12oz fruits are meaty and sturdy, making them perfect for processing and canning. Also wonderful eaten raw on sandwiches and salads. Originally discovered within Amish communities in Wisconsin during the 1870s, Amish Paste has maintained its popularity for its rich flavor and robust production throughout the growing season. The indeterminate vines enjoy support from a trellis.

Planting Instructions: Start Amish Paste Tomato seeds indoors under grow lights or in a greenhouse 6-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant 2+ weeks after last frost when soil has warmed a bit. Space plants at least 4 feet apart. Support growth with tomato cages, a trellis or wire. Water regularly but avoid overwatering (soil should be moist but not wet).

Seed Saving Instructions: When fully ripe, pick your tastiest fruits from the most vigorous plants. Cut open and squeeze Amish Paste Tomato seeds and juice into a jar. Secure a cloth over the jar so air can enter. Ferment the juice and seeds in the jar for 2-3 days. Then strain and rinse the seeds. Dry on a screen or cloth. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approx 25 Amish Paste Tomato seeds per packet
